Words for Nerds--Panoply

In yesterday's quote from G. K. Chesterton, the word "panoply" came up. What the heck does it mean?

A. An impressive display.
B. A complete suit of armor.
C. Full ceremonial attire.
D. A cupboard full of pans.

We have prepared a trick question today, because the answer is A, B, and C. The common thread is that a panoply covers or protects. Ronald Reagan floated an idea for a nuclear bomb panoply back in 1983--the Strategic Defense Initiative. This would have been the biggest and most protective panoply ever, but so far it hasn't gotten off the ground. Had Reagan chosen to call it the Strategic Defense Panoply, things might be very different today.
