
Are you pessimistic, optimistic, realistic, idealistic, or heuristic? How about taking a stab at what "heuristic" means ...
A. Hard of hearing.
B. Oppressive, tyrannical.
C. Learning by trial and error.
D. Believing in an afterlife.
If it took you two, three, or four guesses--congratulations! You've learned heuristically, because heuristic means learning by trial and error. If you took five guesses or more, the heuristic learning method is not for you.
But really--don't we all seem to repeat the same mistakes over and over? Are we a heuristically challenged species?
